AUTOMATED CLEARING HOUSE (ACH) - A facility used by financial institutions to distribute electronic debit and credit entries to bank accounts and settle such entries. Under the automated clearinghouse system, banks exchange checks and drafts drawn upon each other and settle their daily balances.
