* Claim *
CLAIM - A demand for money or other relief.
A written demand or written assertion by one of the contracting parties seeking, as a matter of right, the payment of money in a sum certain, the adjustment or interpretation of contract terms, or other relief arising under or relating to the contract. A claim arising under a contract, unlike a claim relating to that contract, is a claim that can be resolved under a contract clause that provides for the relief sought by the claimant.
A claim is a challenge of the ownership of a thing which a man has not in possession and is wrongfully withheld by another.
The entry on of the demand of a mechanic or materialman for work done or material furnished in the erection of a building, in those counties to which the lien laws extend, is sometimes called a claim.
A continual c1aim is a claim made in a particular way to preserve the' rights of a feoffee.
Claim of conusance is defined to be an intervention by a third person, demanding jurisdiction of a cause against a plaintiff, who has chosen to commence his action out of the claimant's court.
