NON-ECONOMIC DAMAGES

Damages for pain, suffering, loss of companionship, consortium (love of spouse). These are as opposed to economic losses, such as loss of wages, medical bills, and damage to property. Occasionally, laws limit the amount of "non-economic" damages which can be recovered for torts.
